getting there

We set off from London by car and reached Chipping Campden in just over two hours. The drive was easy and scenic - rolling hills, stone villages and plenty of places to stop for coffee or photos. There’s parking at the hotel, making it a stress-free base for exploring the area. Click here to see more images.

a stay at cotswold house hotel & spa

Nestled on the historic High Street, Cotswold House Hotel & Spa is a stunning Grade II-listed Regency townhouse dating back to the early 1800s. Originally a private home, it’s now a stylish retreat with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and thoughtful touches throughout. It's a great place to stay to access lots of beautiful places around this hotel and we loved its central location.

From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. The room was elegant and spacious, with a freestanding bath that made for the perfect post-walk soak. The food, locally sourced and beautifully presented was a real highlight, and the spa offered a tranquil adults-only space with luxurious treatments, robes and total relaxation. Tom and I had an hour's full body massage and it was just wonderful.

local highlights you’ll love

📍 Snowshill Manor & Gardens (National Trust)
Just a short drive away, Snowshill Manor is the fascinating former home of collector Charles Paget Wade. Each room is filled with an eccentric mix of objects, from Samurai armour to vintage toys, while the Arts & Crafts gardens are a delight to wander, especially when the lavender’s in bloom.

📍 Daylesford Organic Farm Shop, Moreton-in-Marsh
For a bougie lunch, head to Daylesford Farm Shop, a haven of organic food, florals and rustic-chic interiors. The café serves delicious seasonal dishes and the shop is perfect for picking up thoughtful gifts or homeware. It's pricey though, I bought one napkin which set me back £22!

📍 Burford
Often called the 'gateway to the Cotswolds', Burford is a charming town with cobbled streets, independent boutiques, and antique shops. Ideal for a slow afternoon stroll and a cream tea stop.

exploring chipping campden

Don’t miss the chance to explore Chipping Campden itself. With its medieval Market Hall (built in 1627), honey-stone cottages and boutique shops, it’s one of the most picturesque towns in the Cotswolds. Pop into Robert Welch Studio for stylish kitchenware or The Gallery at the Guild for local arts and crafts.

countryside walks & cotswold way

The town marks the start of the Cotswold Way National Trail, so even a short stroll out of town rewards you with stunning views. Whether it’s a gentle ramble or a longer circular walk, it’s the perfect way to unwind and take in the landscape.
